Andrea Logan went to college at the University of Southern Maine and graduated with a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning in May of 2008. Andrea also holds a degree in Linguistics with a concentration in child language development. Prior to entering graduate school for Education, Andrea worked as a Behavior Analyst Technician at the Merrymeeting Center for Child Development in Bath Maine where she taught children ages 2-14 with Autism and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders. Andrea has been involved with the education of children of all ages for many years. In high school, Andrea operated as the Director for the Rumford Public Library Children's Summer Theater Production of The 12 Dancing Princesses and Stone Soup. She also taught reading to Kindergarten children at the Pine Street Elementary School in Bangor. Since obtaining her Master's Degree, Andrea has taught middle school special education at the Windham Middle School and 6th grade regular education at Poland Community School. She has also taught regular 4th grade and 3rd and 4th grade special education.
Andrea's true passion in life is teaching. She enjoys designing and implementing cross-curriculum project based units that are designed to encompass learning as a holistic adventure through time and space with the belief that children can learn what they need to know through the act of doing. In her classrooms, children take on the roles as scientists, mathematicians and writers. Andrea has had the opportunity to learn under the supervision of some of Maine's best educators, and used their teaching to guide her own philosophy of learning into a unique and balanced approach that surrounds the whole learner. A current goal of Andrea's is to intern at Nancie Atwell's Center for Teaching and Learning in Edgecomb, Maine and hopes that one day The Maine Center for Academic Excellence will flourish into a full scale Charter School for students in the Lakes Region Area.
Andrea lives in Windham, Maine with her husband Chris and 2 children ages 6 and 3, her cat Milo, 6 fish and a turtle.
